YouTube is a wonderful place to discover hidden gems. It’s how I managed to discover acoustic guitarist Mike Dawes. The first video I watched was of Dawes performing an arrangement of David Guetta’s “Titanium.” Dawes has a magical way of crafting complicated multi-hand finger patterns and making them looking easy. The entire instrument is used to create amazing color-filled arrangements. It’s pretty easy to recognize he’s been influenced by guys like Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai.
And while he seems to have a knack for taking songs and creating these great arrangements, his song writing is equally impressive. So below you can listen to the Guetta’s arrangement along with “Boogie Slam” and “The Impossible”. Dawes released an album earlier this year, What Just Happened?, which is available on iTunes.
