Mark & Derek Choreograph Out-of-This-World Dance on DWTS

Last night, Mark Ballas and Derek Hough joined forces to choreograph an out-of-this-world routine for the professional dancers on Dancing with the Stars. Backed by the pulsing electro house beat of Zedd‘s “Spectrum”, four male astronauts (Mark, Derek, and two troop dancers who I unfortunately couldn’t see due to the dark lighting) traveled to a planet where they had a dance-off with four female aliens (again, couldn’t identify them due to the lighting) and their queen (Peta Murgatroyd).  The choreography blended hip-hop moves with sharp Michael Jackson- style pops. The DWTS lighting and set designers did an incredible job of transforming the dance floor into a crater-pocked alien planet complete with rising and falling rectangular pillars of green light. I’d also like to send a special shout out to jorbea for identifying the Zedd tune. I couldn’t find information about it anywhere until I finally came across his Instagram conversation with Derek.
