The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is inviting the world to join in a celebration of Verdi’s 200th birthday with a special one-night-only concert on October 10, 2013. The performance will be streamed live online at cso.org and will be available on-demand following the performance at riccardomutimusic.com. Music director Riccardo Muti will lead the CSO and Chorus in a performance of Verdi’s Requiem featuring soloists soprano Tatiana Serjan, mezzo-soprano Daniela Barcellona, tenor Mario Zeffiri and bass Ildar Abdrazakov.
The CSO will also mark the 200th anniversary of Verdi’s birthday with a new release by the CSO Resound record label – a live recording of Verdi’s Otello compiled from concerts in Chicago during April 2011 performed by Music Director Riccardo Muti, the CSO, the Chicago Symphony Chorus and the Chicago Children’s Choir. The recording will be available for digital download on September 3 and in CD and SACD formats at retail outlets beginning September 24, 2013.
