As a Dancing with the Stars Fan, I’ve wished for years that the show would allow their excellent singers to have a moment in the spotlight (for info about all of the singers, please visit this post). My wish finally came true last night when Carmen Carter stepped onto the dance floor to sing during Wynonna Judd’s dance routine with Tony Dovolani. Wearing one of her trademark self-designed headpieces and a sequined red robe, Carter belted out Kiki Dee’s “I’ve Got the Music in Me”.
Best known as one of the singers in the DWTS band, Carter has sung in over 50 movies including Dreamgirls, Confessions of a Shopaholic, The 40-year-old Virgin; and recorded television theme songs for Sister Sister, Strong Medicine, and Touched by an Angel. Carter has performed live with live artists including Patti LaBelle, Diana Ross, and Ray Charles. Her latest album, Can I Be with You Tonight is available on her website.
Carter is also developing her own store, Crystals by Carmen, to sell her own designer jewelry and buy her patent pending headpiece Nayaris.
