Shawn Johnson’s Primal “Jungle Jazz” Samba with Derek and Mark on DWTS

As a huge Dancing with the Stars fan (or addict, depending on how you look at it), I had to write about the music used in what may be the most most innovative routine in the history of the show – Shawn Johnson’s dance with Derek Hough and Mark Ballas. The trio danced a tribal-themed samba to Les Tambours du Bronx‘s “Jungle Jazz”. According to Wikipedia, Les Tambours du Bronx (“The Drums of the Bronx”) is a French industrial percussion band created in 1987. The group’s 17 musicians use synthetic sounds, samples, and singing to create an energetic amalgam of Indus, Afrobeat, hip-hop, rock, and techno music.  You can purchase “Jungle Jazz” on iTunes by clicking on Jungle jazz.

You can check out the primal power and intricate shapes of Hough and Ballas’s choreography below.
