“From Dust to Dreams” boasts a sparkling roster of stars. Performers will include Academy award winner Jennifer Hudson; country artists Willy Nelson, Merle Haggard, Emmy Lou Harris, and Martina McBride; singer-songwriter Carole King, trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, violinist Joshua Bell, Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame member John Fogerty, gospel singer Mavis Staples, Train’s lead singer Pat Monahan, and American Ballet Theater dancers Marcelo Gomes and Luciana Paris.
The show will have unique cross-genre collaborations. Pat Monahan will join Martina McBride to sing “A Song for You”. Mavis Staples and Carole King will perform “You’ve Got a Friend”. Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride, and Carole King will join together for “Natural Woman”.
To top things off, there will be an impressive lineup of Broadway stars including Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, Laura Osnes, Cheyenne Jackson, Sherie René Scott, Montego Glover, and Benjamin Walker.
According to the show’s director and producer Michael Stevens, “We set out to celebrate the best of the American creative spirit whether it was classical, Broadway, rock, dance or soul on the occasion of the opening of a world-class performing arts Center. It’s not every day that you get the chance to see such a range of artists all at the peak of their respective talents.”
“From Dust to Dreams” is part of the ongoing “PBS Arts” initiative which gives millions of viewers a front-row seat and backstage pass to the best music, theater, dance, art, and cultural history programs on-air and online.
