Angie Johnson and John Arata of Sidewinder, the Missouri Air National Guard band which went viral with its performance of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”, recently marked some major achievements in their lives. Lead vocalist Staff Sgt. Angie Johnson earned a spot on NBC’s singing contest, The Voice. Despite the fact that she lost in the battle round, she belted out some powerful performances.
Johnson’s bandmate, rock violinist/keyboardist John Arata received a different type of honor with his recent promotion to the rank of major in a ceremony at Lambert-St. Louis airport (more info in this article by Bill Phelan on Eureka-Wildwoodpatch.com). Arata has also been a band director at Eureka High School in Missouri for the past 18 years.
