I rarely watch the Grammys. Most of the music I listen to is heavy metal and progressive rock, and the Grammys does very little to recognize these genres. That’s why I was pleasantly surprised when my favorite band, Dream Theater, was nominated in the category of Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for their song “On the Backs of Angels”. I knew the chances of them winning was pretty small, but nevertheless, I tuned into the show on the off chance that I could catch a glimpse of the guys on the red carpet or in the audience. It seems like I didn’t even need to bother. The winner in their category was announced in a pre-telecast that was streamed online. Thankfully, one of my cohorts on the James LaBrie forum posted a link to a clip of an interview on the red carpet with Dream Theater. You can check out the video below. And, just in case you’re wondering, Dream Theater lost out to the Foo Fighters. Oh well.
