The Re:Generation Music Project

Earlier today I randomly came across a video from the Re:Generation Music project. I can’t say I know much about it because so far only a few odd videos have been made available.  The video that caught my attention has DJ Premier learning a little bit about classical music.  Watch below:

After visiting the project’s website, the documentary isn’t strictly about the DJ and classical music.  The following is the only information available.  I’m curious to find a bit more.  I’m the first to admit that DJing isn’t entirely my thing, but I’m always open to learn about interesting musical projects that push musical boundaries.

Follow DJ Premier, Mark Ronson, Skrillex, Pretty Lights and The Crystal Method as they remix, recreate and re-imagine five traditional styles of music. From the classical perfection of the Berklee Symphony Orchestra to the bayou jams of New Orleans jazz, our five distinctive DJs collaborate with some of today’s biggest musicians to discover how our musical past is influencing the future.

The project is sponsored by the Grammy’s and Hyundai.

Here is another video from the project with Pretty Lights kicking things off with the musicians at the studio and has an interesting introduction with bluegrass legend Dr. Ralph Stanley:
