This week’s Dancing with the Stars episode suffered from dull musical choices. In fact, some of the songs were downright irritating (like Helen Shapiro’s “Walking Back to Happiness” during Anna Trebunskaya and Carson Kressley’s routine. Yuck!). DWTS finally redeemed itself during the last two performances of the show with the swinging big band tunes that accompanied Nancy Grace/Tristan MacManus and JR Martinez/Karina Smirnoff.
Nancy and Tristan danced to Duke Ellington’s classic “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)”, while JR and Karina danced to the Brian Setzer Orchestra’s “Jump Jive an’ Wail”. Each of these songs gave the Harold Wheeler Band the opportunity to show off their technical chops with some hot solos, while the singers relished the rocking harmonies.
