Adrenaline Mob: New Mike Portnoy Band Gives Sneak Peak of New Music

Mike Portnoy is rebounding from a tough 2010 after deciding to leave the band he helped form, Dream Theater.  Portnoy joined forces with Fozzy guitarist Rich Ward, Symphony X on vocalist Russell Allen, Sonic Stomp  guitarist Mike Orlando and bass player Paul DiLeo to form Adrenaline Mob.

Earlier this week, the band released their EP. After taking a listen, Adrenaline Mob is anything but progressive, a departure for both Portnoy and Allen.  I must admit, it’s a bit odd knowing Portnoy isn’t jamming the typical progressive rhythms, but you can still tell it’s Portnoy and he still kicks ass.

Adrenaline Mob’s tunes are pretty solid.  Songs have some great riffs and grooves.  The band’s sound reminds me of Black Label Society.

Listen below and let us know what you think of Adrenaline Mob.
