As we previously mentioned, Viola and I are official blog partners of the 2011 Chicago Dancing Festival. a couple of nights ago, the Festival held a kick-off event with giving a preview of what expect in about five weeks. I also had an opportunity to meet some of the blogger partners, and it was pleasure meeting all of them.
I am truly very excited to for this festival because several of the events are already sold out! This is great news for the festival and really exciting for the city of Chicago.
As you might expect, you can’t throw a dancing party without some modern dancing. Unfortunately, Chicago traffic prevented me from catching tap dancers Kristi Burris and Jessica Chapuis show off their moves. But I did catch DanceWorks Chicago members Amber Jackson and Louis Jackson (no relation) perform “Beat in the Box” choreographed by Chicagoan Brian Enos set to an original beat-box score and vocals by another Chicago artist, Yuri Lane. Unfortunately, I my Android phone doesn’t didn’t capture many great photos, but I did get this one which is kind of interesting. The blurs are of course the Luna Negra dancers.
In addition, I captured the following video of Luna Negra’s Eduardo Zuniga and Monica Cervantes dance a piece choreographed by Gustavo Ramirez Sansano. For the life of me, I can’t recall the name of the song they are dancing to. (Hints appreciated)
