Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia to Honor Pioneering Philadelphia International Record Songwriter-Producers Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff

This year, Philadelphia International Records (PIR), which introduced “The Sound of Philadelphia”, is launching its 40th anniversary celebration with special events cross the country. The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia will host one such event –  a Lifetime Achievement Award Gala honoring songwriter-producers Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff. The duo have written and produced hits including “Back Stabbers,” “Love Train,” and “TSOP (the “Soul Train” theme) as well as collaborating with a broad range of stars including Michael Jackson, Elton John, and Patti LaBelle.

The black-tie gala will include live performances by PIR Grammy winner Billy Paul (“Me and Mrs. Jones”), backed by the TSOP Band. Chamber orchestra music director Dirk Brossé will lead members of the orchestra in classical arrangements of Gamble and Huff songs. The performance will give a taste of The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia’s upcoming album featuring classical interpretations of Gamble and Huff hits.

The gala will take place Saturday, May 21 at the Westin Philadelphia. Tickets are available by clicking here or calling 215-545-5451.
