I was sent this video today of Eric Whitacre discussing the making of the “Lux Aurumque”, the first every virtual choral performance on YouTube, at TED earlier this year. Whitacre explains how this idea came to be, the process of making it, and what happened thereafter. In addition, he gives a test of what’s to come next week with virtual choir 2.0.
“Sleep” will premiere April 7th on YouTube. Over 2,000 videos from 58 countries were submitted for this project. From the little snippet that is provided, this looks amazing. Watch it.
If you haven’t seen the original virtual choir, watch it here. It’s truly a beautiful work of art.
