I was pretty pumped when I received that news about Alter Bridge’s new release, AB III, set to release on November 9, 2010. The new album comes on the heels of their hugely successful releases Blackbird and One Day Remains.
Over the past two albums, Alter Bridge has proven it can evolve, and it sounds like AB III will offer the same progress. Band founder Mark Tremonti had this to say:
We went into the process of putting the record together with a lot of confidence, but we didn’t go into it looking to be commercial, or to have radio singles. We just wanted this to be an album that pleased us artistically, through and through.
Myles Kennedy had this to say about the thematic material:
This record is definitely a departure from the last two albums in terms of its subject matter. It touches on the thoughts and emotions of someone who has come to question everything that was once regarded as an absolute truth. It’s the realization that everything you once believed in might not exist.”
The first single, “Isolation” is being well received at rock radio as it showcases Alter Bridge’s ability to play and write aggressively while maintaining their signature melodic component. However, Isolation is unlike previous singles in that it’s moody and features very dark lyrics.
The acclaimed band formed in 2004 by Grammy Award winning guitarist, Mark Tremonti (Creed), features front man Myles Kennedy (lead vocalist for Slash’s solo touring band and Mayfield Four) and former Creed band members, Brian Marshall and Scott Philips.
Released under the band’s own label, Alter Bridge Recording, the new album will be distributed through EMI.
