Smithsonian Channel Explores The Influence of the Electric Guitar

I was quite surprised when I received information about a Smithsonian Channel in my inbox.  That is because the channel isn’t available everywhere yet…ahem…Comcast.   With 19 museums, 9 international research centers and over a 168 million artifacts, it shouldn’t be a surprise.  The amount of information stored in the underbelly of each museum is unbelievable. And the stories behind each collection waiting to be told, innumerable.  Fortunately for those of us without the channel available through our local cable provider, the Smithsonian Channel has full episodes available on its website, www.smithsonianchannel.com.

The Smithsonian Channel features a variety of subjects, as anyone would expect, but this weekend it is airing a documentary about the history of the electric guitar, Electrified: The Guitar Revolution.  The documentary is scheduled to air on Sunday, August 15 at 8 PM EST in select cities where the channel is available. Check local listings or use the “Channel Finder” on the Smithsonian Channel website.

The following is a teaser video, but the full episode is available for viewing online here.
