Classical crossover violinist David Garrett is releasing his album, Rock Symphonies. It’s available for only $3.99 today on Amazon. The album showcases Garrett’s love of the classics and rock with interpretations of hits such as Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” (featuring Orianthe), “Smells like Teen Spirit” from Nirvana, and Metallica’s “Master of Puppets”. Garrett fuses classical and rock on tracks such as “Vivaldi/Vertigo (U2), and “The 5th”.
Originally from Germany, Garrett began playing violin at the age of four. He studied musicology and composition at the Juilliard School, and had violin lessons with world-famous violinist Itzhak Perlman. Garrett’s goal is to introduce young people to the classics and kindle enthusiasm for reputedly serious music. He hopes to reach this goal by combining classical elements with pop, rock, and R&B music.
Here’s Garrett’s performance from earlier today on Good Morning America:

Yes indeed, his live performances are a lot of fun to watch. In fact, I saw an ad this morning for a live DVD that he’s releasing. You might want to check that one out too!
