This past weekend, Rachel Barton Pine, world-renowned classical violinist, was awarded the Great Performer of Illinois Award. As part of the ceremony, she performed in a special concert that began with two classical music sets. Pine ended her evening of performances with a set by Earthen Grave, her doom/thrash metal band.
As part of the set, Earthen Grave performed “Stargazer” by Rainbow as a tribute to the late Ronnie James Dio, who passed away in May 2010 from stomach cancer. “Stargazer” was co-written by Ritchie Blackmore and Dio.
Performance took place on Sunday, July 11 at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Millennium Park, Chicago, Illinois.
