Rachel Barton Pine will headline Chicago’s Great Performers of Illinois Festival on July 11 at 7:00 PM at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. The annual festival, which takes place from Friday, July 9-Sunday, July 11 includes more than 50 performers from throughout the state playing pop, rock, jazz, Latin, reggae, and classical music on multiple stages in Millennium Park.
Pine’s performance will have three acts, with each one featuring a different aspect of her diverse musical background. During the first performance, Pine will perform on a baroque violin with her period-instrument chamber ensemble, Trio Settecento. Next will come the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto accompanied by the Springfield-based Illinois Symphony Orchestra. The final third of the performance will feature Pine on the electric viper violin with her six piece doom/thrash band, Earthen Grave.
In addition to headlining the festival, Pine will also receive the 2010 Great Performer of Illinois award for her outstanding contributions to classical and rock music and to the cultural life of Illinois. She is the third recipient of this award.
