I often give the Grammys grief for the awards, but the organization does have an important role when it comes providing a musical experience for kids. GRAMMY Camp® is a ten-day residential summer camp for high school students with a focus on the music industry. The Camp is hosted in Los Angeles by the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and taught by top music professionals from multiple disciplines, GRAMMY Camp provides an exciting experience in various music industry careers.
If you are a parent or know of kid that could benefit from Grammy Camp, then you’ll want to provide this information to them rather quickly. The deadline for students to apply is March 31, 2010.
Depending on the interest by the student, the Camp offers a broad range of subject to choose from including audio engineering, electronic music production, instrumental performance, music journalism and more.
Tuition is $2,200 for the camp, but financial assistance is available. Based on my experience attending these types of festivals, they are great at providing financial assistance so don’t let cost act as a barrier to apply.
