And A Very Rocking Christmas to You

Here is some info from about a couple of cool upcoming rock/metal Christmas concerts:

Rock 4 Xmas

For the 13th year, Rock 4 Xmas will bring together an incredible line up of rockers to hit the stage to raise money to benefit the less fortunate.

This year’s slate of shows is once again headlined by the legendary Eddie Money, and will feature performances by Ernie and the Automatics, Joey Molland of Badfinger, Kelly Keeling of Blue Murder, Baton Rouge Michael Schenker, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Terry Ilous of XYZ. The Seaport Inn show will also feature a short performance with Brick by Brick, a local youth organization…

Monies raised through the Rock 4 Xmas shows will benefit local journeys in each host location that help families in need enjoy a happy holiday season.

The tour begins on December 4 at the Seaport Inn and Marina in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. Additional shows will take place in Massachusetts, Long Island, New York, and Connecticut.

Christmas Metal Symphony

If you are planning to go to Europe to celebrate Christmas, you may want to make your first stop Holland.  Continuing with the tradition started last year, which also had an all-star metal cast:

… the second “Christmas Metal Symphony” show [is] set to take place on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at 013  Tilburg, Holland. As was the case with last year’s event, the singers will be backed by a six piece band and a 30 piece classical orchestra as they perform some of the finest heavy metal and hard rock songs of all time. This unique show will contain songs from all metal genres – from prog-metal to rock, from death to speed, and from industrial to symphonic.

Confirmed singers for this year’s “Christmas Metal Symphony” show:

  • Charlotte Wessels (Delain)
  • Damian Wilson (Threshold)
  • Joakim Brodén (Sabaton)
  • Jorn Lande (Masterplan)
  • Mats Levén (ex-Therion)
  • Simone Simons (Epica)
  • Udo Dirkschneider (U.D.O., ex-Accept)

The “Christmas Metal Symphony” website also lists Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil as one of the singers.

Here’s a promotional video. This really makes me wish I could go to Europe for Christmas this year!
